Summary:

After someone slashes the tires of her car, heiress Piper Roseland decides the chain of unfortunate events that have been plaguing her are not unrelated events. In search of a body guard who will be discreet, she calls her Uncle Theo who sends her Alex Jensen. Although Alex presents himself as a bodyguard/private investigator for hire, that isn't who he really is. Alex is actually a secret agent with a organization run by Piper's Uncle. The agency's job is to gather intelligence for various government agencies such as the CIA. When Uncle Theo sends Piper to Alex he doesn't just do so because Piper needs protection. Uncle Theo has received Intel stating that someone in Piper's family or household is actually involved with a drug cartel from Mexico and Uncle Theo sees this as the perfect opportunity to get someone into the Roseland mansion without raising any suspicions.

From the beginning Piper is attracted to Alex, but she doesn't do serious relationships. Piper keeps all her relationships physical with her emotions locked away. Alex knows that getting involved with a woman like Piper is a bad idea, yet he can not resist her head strong personality and her desire to help others. As Alex works to keep Piper safe while at the same time uncovering who is working for the drug cartel, the two can not keep these emotions out of their relationship.

Christina's Thoughts:

This is the first book that I have read by Judy Teel and I must say that I enjoyed it. The book was well-paced with great dialogue and a good plot. The conversations between the characters felt real and believable. Overall I liked both main characters, although I was a little partial to Alex. Piper had some great qualities like her desire to help others and her devotion to her family. Some of her actions annoyed me a bit and at times I wanted to slap her for a few of the stunts she pulled.

Alex was a great character throughout. He came off as strong and confident without being overbearing or sarcastic. He had all the best qualities of a true Alpha male while at the same time being able to recognize his feelings for Piper.

Overall opinion:

Overall, I enjoyed this story. The plot was well developed and the characters likeable. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys contemporary romance. And I plan on checking out other books by Ms. Teel.
