The big break Trudy Hollander’s small accounting firm needs has finally arrived, but unfortunately it comes with murder, mayhem and Kristof Farkas, a man she just can’t seem to resist. Even worse, Kristof is the CFO of Dark Wolf Enterprises—the one person who can pull the plug on the job that will take her company to the next level.

And then there are the assassins who can jump from three stories up and still be able to run away…

Kristof has no intention of giving in to his inner wolf and claiming Trudy. She’s human. Too fragile to withstand being a shifter’s mate. But the need to protect her is stronger than his resolve, and his desire is more powerful yet. He’ll fight with everything he has to keep her safe, both from those who would hurt her, and from himself.

Enjoy an excerpt:

Trudy groaned. She had kneed her client, and very well the sexiest man she’d ever seen, in the nuts. She pretty much assumed getting fired was a done deal now.

He was the kind of man that women dreamed about. Tall, dark and handsome—literally, he was the epitome of it. He looked to be in his early thirties and too young to run a large company. He stood over six feet tall and had a muscular frame. His dark hair was cut short, not a strand seemed out of place. His eyes were dark brown and unsettled her as he watched her. His clothes looked expensive, from his shirt to his shoes and even the wool coat that he wore. If she was the swooning type, she would be on the ground.

The man standing next to him was just as handsome as Kristof was. He was dark and tall like Kristof but he didn’t have the same muscular build. He had lean muscles like a runner, while even with them hidden underneath his clothes Kristof looked to be all muscle. The two men shared so many similarities Trudy was sure they had to be related.

The officers had everyone wait outside while they did a sweep of her house. She stood in uncomfortable silence with Kristof and Lajos. Now was not a good time to ask them why they traveled all the way to her house. She needed to put some time between her assault on him and begging to keep the contract.

She tried to keep her eyes focused on anything except for Kristof but, no matter how much she tried, she kept peering at him from her peripheral vision. She swore he was doing the same and watching her as well. What she really wanted to do was touch him.

Do it. Touch him.

She took a step in his direction before she caught herself.

What am I doing? I can’t go around fondling my clients.

She didn’t know why, but she had these urges to go to him, stand next to him, caress his body and make love to him.

Shit. Get a grip girl.

It’d been a little while since she got laid, but this was going way beyond horny. It wasn’t even the sex part that pulled at her. It went way beyond that. It was as if she was supposed to trust him…with her life.

She needed to touch him. There was a sense of urgency to it. She maneuvered Piper to one arm and stuck out her hand. “Trudy Hollander.”

Kristof took her hand in his and there was an instant—something. Trudy couldn’t even describe how she felt, because she’d never felt anything like this before. Her hand and his felt connected, as if they were one. He looked down at her and his eyes changed color again. Something behind them flashed with sexual heat and longing.

“Kristof Farkas.”

What I Have Read This Year

As the year draws to a close I decided to look back at some of the books I have read this year. Sadly I discovered that the total number of books I finished this year is on the low side. At one time I would finish two or three full novels a month. Now, I am lucky if I complete one. That is probably why I have become so picky about what I read now.

Here are just a few of the books I completed this year and would recommend to others.

As you can see my reading tastes are all over the place.  What about you? What books would you recommend to others?

Santa Baby Blog Hop and Giveaway Dec. 13th-16th

Santa baby, slip a sable under the tree, for me.  If those lyrics are playing on the radio it can mean only one thing the holiday season is upon us. That of course also means it is once again time for the Safari Heat Holiday Blog Hop.

When I think about the holiday season, I think about traditions. Almost all the holidays we celebrate in my family have at least one traditions attached to them. For example at Easter, the Easter Bunny leaves a candy trail from the girls' bedrooms to their Easter Baskets. Christmas is no different when it comes to traditions. The funny thing about traditions, however, is that over time they sometimes change. For example growing up in my family we always had a big fish dinner on Christmas Eve, and opened one present. Then on Christmas morning we opened the rest and then had big Christmas dinner.
In my husband's family, however, Christmas Eve was always a bigger deal with the grandparents sleeping over and opening all the presents except those from Santa.

Today, we have adapted his family traditions rather than mine. Do I mind? No, why? Because while traditions are great that doesn't mean you can not be flexible and change. That is what being a part of a family is all about. Perhaps that is why I love to write contemporary romances that are heavy in the family department.  One of my series The Sherbrookes of Newport which consist of 5 novels focuses on one wealthy and powerful family. My second series Love On The North Shore is all about the people and families in North Salem, Massachusetts.

Now since this is a blog hop that means 1) you can enter to win lots of prizes including Kindle HD6 and 2) there are a lot of other blogs to visit.  To do both follow the link:

Plus leave a comment here and tell me about your own holiday traditions and be entered to win a copy of The Sherbrookes of Newport: A Collection of Novels which included books 1 thru 3 of the series.

A Royal Visit: Thoughts on The Royal Family

Yesterday I read a headline about how Prince William rode along with commoners rather than take a private flight. While yes, technically the writers got it wrong, since in the United States there are no royals which means no commoners, I still read the article.  I must say that I am always impressed with the younger generation of British royals.  Despite the opportunities and privileges they have for the most part they do seem like a decent people.  Granted I have never met them, but they seem like everyday people.

Furthermore, while I wouldn't mind having a castle or two to live in, I actually feel a little bad for them and wouldn't want to trade places with them. It seems no matter where they go or what they do the media is around. They cannot celebrate or mourn for that matter without a camera showing up.  And unlike Hollywood celebrities or musicians, they did not ask to be in the spot light, instead they were just born to the wrong family.

What do you think? Would you trade places with them?

Book Blast & Giveaway: Entangle

Don’t judge me for what I’m about to say. I tried to do things the right way. I wore the big white dress and rode off with Prince Charming. Then Charming changed his mind. See, that’s the part they don’t tell you; he can change his mind. These days, I don’t put my heart in anyone’s hands because I don’t even know where I’ve left it.

Enter Leo. Blue-eyed specimen of a man, stirring me awake in ways I never thought possible. I think I should indulge myself for once.  Because one time is all I need. Then he goes and weaves simple, deliberate movements into pure, gilded pleasure. And I’m hooked. I’m so blinded by desire I barely notice the gaping hole opening underneath me, the one that’s sure to swallow me entirely. Because every time I’ve dared to get close to someone, they’ve cracked me wide open.

Why should this time be any different?

Excerpt

Our eyes meet again and I feel the electricity weaving in the air between us. It takes every ounce of control to keep my hands on the desk behind me. Then my eyesight darts to a purple speck on her cheek.

“Is that…” I don’t realize what I’m doing until I reach over to her and brush a finger along her skin to pick it up. Her response is immediate; she freezes up at my touch. “Is this confetti?”

She leans in to get a closer view.

“Oh. Yeah. I was at a kid’s party earlier.” She takes hold of my hand with her own to inspect the purple speck I’m holding on the tip of my finger. She goes on pretending she doesn’t notice our proximity, but still lowers her voice a notch. “I got caught in a piñata explosion.”

“Sounds terrifying.”

Our voices are just above a whisper now. Because we’re standing so close together, there’s no need to speak louder than that. My breathing slows as I look down toward her mouth and watch as her lips form the next words.

“It was. I barely made it out alive.”

I’m not sure what happened next and I don’t know who made the first move, who closed the gap between us. All I know is that her face is suddenly in my hands and I’m kissing her. Hard. Her mouth parts to my tongue, her own joining me willingly.

Her entire body melts into mine as she wraps her arms around my neck. Our kiss is desperate. I grab her by her waist and move our bodies around until her back hits the door. I press her against it. My hands slide up and down her body, grasping at whatever I can reach.
