It's that time of year, the dreaded Tax Season

Recently my husband and I had our taxes done, which got me thinking about money in general. Soon my thoughts turned to what I would do if I had an unlimited supply of funds such as some of those business giants, athletes, super models or characters in some of my books.  Needless to say I was able to generate a list of things I would do in no time.  Here it is in order of importance:

1) My three children would receive the best education in the world.

2) I would open a chain of no-animal shelters for homeless pets. At first I was thinking it would just be in the US, but since I have unlimited funds, I will make it world wide.  All kidding aside I have always wanted to open a no kill animal shelter even if it was so small I was only able to help 5 or ten animals at a time.

3) I would provide financial support to medical research.

4) I would open homeless shelters for vets here in the United States.

5) I'd buy my father in law a red Ferrari.  It is his dream car.

6) I would get a few nips and tucks. Nothing major just a few problems areas.

What about all of you? What would you do?

2 Years and Five Books Late: My 2 Year Anniversary

As I sit here and reflect back it seems impossible that this month marks the 2 year anniversary of my first published book, The Teacher’s Billionaire, which launched my first series The Sherbrookes of Newport.  When the book first came out, I had no idea what to expect.  Would people buy it?  Would people like? Would they want to read the next book in the series?

Two years and four more books later, so much as changed.  Granted, I still wonder if people will like my stories and whether or not they will want to read more, but aside from that my day to day life is quite different.  First and foremost, I no longer view my writing as a hobby or something that I enjoy doing in my free time.  Now, writing is my full time job along with taking care of my children and husband.  For example, in the past I would write after the family went to bed and during Sunday football games. Now I write in the mornings after I drop my youngest children off at preschool and during Sunday football games.  Sorry, football fans I am just not into the sport.

In addition to changes in the way I view writing, I now find myself interacting with readers on a regular basis.  Not only do I chat with them about my books, but I have also gotten to know many of them as individuals.  I share information about my day to day life with them and they do they same.  Frequently, I ask them for suggestions when it comes to picking a book title or deciding what story to start next.  Over the past two years, many of my readers have become my friends and a few have even asked to meet me in person.

Honestly, I could go on and on about how my life has changed since the release of my very first book.  Instead, I am going to wrap up by saying that it has changed in ways I never imagined.

#TeaserTuesday It is that time of week again.

Once again it is Teaser Tuesday. Here is a snippet from my newest release The Courage To Love

When they approached a bench outside a McDonald’s, Mia’s pace slowed. “I need to sit. My feet are killing me,” she grumbled as she dropped down onto the wooden bench.
Told-you-so sat on the tip of his tongue, and if it had been his sister next to him, he wouldn’t have hesitated. Instead, he pressed his lips together and sat down next to her. Tipping back his head, Sean searched the night sky for constellations. A night like this was perfect for locating familiar patterns, something he had not done in a long time.
“Thanks for not saying, ‘I told you so.’ ”
Sean turned his gaze away from the stars above to the one seated next to him. “I don’t know you well enough.” Bathed in the moonlight, she took on an incandescent look, a living angel on earth.
“I’d like to do something about that.” Mia ran her finger along the side of his face starting with the scar and ending below his lower lip. “I’ll be in North Salem for a little longer.”
Her touch remained feather light, yet it reached inside him and pulled at something more than pure physical desire. Before he could answer, she leaned in and kissed him. A soft sweet kiss. She pulled away before he could fully enjoy the feel of her lips against his.
“What do you say?”
What did he say? He’d be a goddamn idiot if he said no. One of the world’s sexiest women sat next to him and she wanted to start something up. “I’m game.” Only after answering did he realize how crass he sounded, but it was too late to take back the words.
“Good.” With that simple reply, she leaned in to kiss him again.

My Writing Process Blog Tour

First I would like to thank author E.L.R Jones for inviting me to participate in the blog hop.  Ms. Jones became a self-published author in September of 2103. She has 6 published works and another due out on April 7th of this year.  As an author with eclectic tastes her work ranges from short stories to erotica, all having some form of romance representative of the hopeless romantic in her. Her latest work is Night Hunter: http://amzn.com/B00IBIGK48. E.L.R. Jones can be found at http://elrjonesauthor.blogspot.com

Now a little about me. You have probably already guessed I am a full time author. I am also the mother of three beautiful daughters, two crazy dogs, and my hubby's personal assistant (his words not mine.)

What I Am Working On:

This month I released my fifth contemporary romance.  The Courage To Love, is the first book in my newest series Love On The North Shore.  This series is a spin off series from my series titled The Sherbrookes of Newport, which contains four contemporary romance novels at the moment although I am working on the fifth for the series.

Why I Write What I Do:

I write because it is my passion.  For as long as I can remember I  have loved creating characters and stories. I write romance novels because they allow me a chance to provide everyone with a Happily Ever After. After all there are few things in the world better than loving another individual and knowing they love you in return. I believe my books, like most romance novels, give readers a chance to leave their own problems behind and just sit back and get lost in another place for a short time.

My Writing Process:

Unlike some authors I do not come up with elaborate outlines. I get a general idea of who my characters are some of the things that will bring them together and how I want it to end. Then I pull out my pen and a notebook and start to write. I write the entire book longhand first. Usually this takes up about 2 to 3 notebooks. Once that is done I type it into the computer, print it out and start the revision and editing process. It is not a quick process, but I have written all five of my books this way.

Romfest Readers and Writers Conference in TN

Thanks to my wonderful hubby, Wednesday I am off to TN for Romfest, a readers and writers conference. This trip was a surprise Christmas present from him.  He did everything from getting me registered to booking my flight and hotel room.  At this event I will be doing my first book signing, and I admit I am nervous.

If you are in the area stop on by. Here is a link to the official site. http://www.romfest.com/Home_Page.html

#Teaser Tuesday with Christina Tetreault

Today is Teaser Tuesday on Facebook and I thought I would share a snippet here as well.  The following snippet is from my newest release The Courage To Love.

Mia took a step back toward him as he moved her hand down. His strong solid body pressed against her back and the memory of him earlier, drenched to the bone, his T-shirt glued to him, formed in her mind and heat collected in her belly.
“Pool is all about geometry,” he explained in his no nonsense tone.
Her eyes followed his hands as he guided the pool stick for her, and his words fell into the background as the desire to kiss him engulfed her.
“Once you line up the shot, make sure you keep the movements smooth and controlled,” he said, helping her finish the shot. On the table, the cue ball struck a striped yellow ball that rolled into a side pocket.
Sean began to move his hand, but Mia grabbed it and spun around to face him before she thought better of it.
“Do you want—” Sean began, meeting her gaze.
Mia leaned closer cutting off the rest of the sentence with a kiss. He remained rigid against her even when she released his hand so she could circle her arms around his neck. She tugged on his bottom lip with her teeth, frustrated when he made no move to intensify the kiss. The only response she got was a set of hands on her hips. While his reaction should have discouraged Mia, it had the opposite effect on her. Men always responded to her and she planned to get Sean to as well.
Pressing her body against his until no space remained, she smiled to herself when she felt his breathing change. Then she pulled her mouth away and switched her attention to his ear. In response Sean groaned, dug his fingers into her waist and then pushed her away from him.
Mia’s eyes popped open. “What’s the matter?”
Sean studied her, his eyes a deeper shade of green now. “You’re a guest. That shouldn’t have happened.”
