Happy Holidays to everyone and thanks for stopping by. For many this time of year is crazy as we run around looking for the perfect gifts, so why not take a minute to catch your breath.
Family and traditions are a big part of the holidays for many. I know growing up my family always had its traditions.
Today my husband and I have our own children and we are passing on our own family traditions to them. Every year our 3 daughters (ages 6 and 4, yes my youngest are twins) get a new holiday ornament, a pair of PJs on Christmas Eve.
Now that I have told you a little about my traditions, I would love to hear about yours. Please leave me a comment telling me about the traditions you have for your holidays. Please leave a email address to be entered into the giveaways.
In addition to the giveaways you can win through the other blogs in the hop, I will be giving away an ebook of readers choice from my series The Sherbrookes of Newport to two different commenters on this blog.
Besides the individual giveaways, a the grand prize from this hop is A Kindle Fire HDX 7”. Plus books to go on the winner’s new Kindle. Please note that any prizes that need to be mailed are available only to winners from the US or Canada. Bloggers are not eligible to win prizes.

The only tradition we really have now that our grandparents are all gone is that we usually do our celebrating on Christmas Eve and then relax Christmas day :) No more big meals, we make easy stuff like sloppy joes and mac and cheese LOL! It's great - no stress and just fun!!!!
No stress. Now that sounds great. Happy holidays

Comment: With exes and re-marriages and their exes, and children that are now teenagers, most of my plans to carry on Christmas traditions have been thrown out the window. One that remains - Christmas stockings!! They're a must.

Oh, yes. We have those too,.
DeleteOne of our traditions is to go to my in-laws one day before Christmas to make Christmas cookies, candies and all sorts of unhealthy goodies! My 3 year old along with my nephew make their own cookies to leave for Santa. They are a mess, but they have such a good time so it's worth it!!!

Comment: Christmas Eve is for my dad's family & usually at my Uncles house. The day after Christmas is my mom's sisters birthday, so that's the day we get together with her side of the family. I love all the time I get to spend with family for the holidays.

On Christmas Eve, the children can open one gift each, no whining about the gift selections once they're opened (if they happen to choose a present that turns out to be socks or underwear, for example). Then, we play or watch a movie together, read 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, and the children go to bed. After fortifying ourselves with an adult beverage (or two), my husband and I begin the monumental task of wrapping gifts and putting together those toys that need a rocket scientist to assemble.

Comment: One tradition that was always a favorite of mine was that of those sneaky elves. We would head to my Aunts house on Christmas Eve as children and come home and there would be presents under the tree! These would always e new Christmas PJ's! It was amazing. Of course I was a bit gullible and never realized one parent would be last out of the house (mom was always running late so it was nothing new) or one would "forget" something and need to go back in to get it (another thing that was quite usual). Through the years, this tradition stuck even when older and the same thing happened with my daughter. Those elves came back and left the presents when all went out on Christmas eve. As she got older, even though the "elves" no longer meant the same as they did, she would still suddenly find those PJ's under the tree on Christmas eve when no one was looking. She's 20 now and still living at home and you can bet she will find those PJs there this year left by the elves, right next to my hubbies and my own. The elvies are quite nice and leave them for all three of us now. I guess some traditions never go away, thankfully!
Thank you for the chance to enter the giveaway and thank you even more for sharing your tradition. There really is nothing like a good pair of warm (depending on where you live) PJs on Christmas eve! I hope you and yours have the Merriest of Christmas' and a very Happy New Year!
Have a merry happy one everybody :D

Comment: I always enjoy hearing about others traditions at Christmas time. On Christmas Eve, my family goes to my parents house where we eat dinner and each child can open 1 gift from them, we then come home where I let my two children 8, 6 open a present. Then we all get into our Christmas pjs (except for my husband he is bauhumbug when its comes to this part) then we set out chocolate chip cookies and milk for santa and then we head off to bed! Hope you have a Merry Christmas

Comment: Hi! Great post! I enjoyed hearing about your traditions. I bet you all have a ton of fun! My parents used to do the pjs on christmas eve but we stopped that tradition. On Thanksgiving, we set up our Christmas tree. On Christmas, we dont give gifts. We get up early, cook a big dinner and sing christmas songs. Then, we eat, play games (video and board). After a bit, we eat junk food while watching christmas movies into the wee hours of the night! I love it! Ya all are so awesome! Thank you for the amazing giveaway! Very much appreciated! Thank you! Happy holidays!
