Lucky In Love Blog Hop March 15th Thru March 18

The definition of LUCK is the force that seems to operate for good or ill in a person's life, as in shaping circumstances, events, or opportunities.  But does luck exist and if so does it play a role in love?

The answer, at least in my opinion, is yes and no.  Sometimes there is simply no other way to explain why something happens other than to say luck was involved.  For example 15 years ago this July I met my husband in a summer Spanish class.  I had recently gotten out of a bad relationship and was not looking for a boyfriend.  I had taken the summer class because I was trying to graduate early and I needed to complete my foreign language requirement.  My husband, an engineering major, didn't need to take a language.  He was just looking for an easy class to obtain the credits he needed.  Chances are if we had not met in that summer class we never would have met.  As an engineering major he spent most of his time on the other side of campus and we lived in separate dorms.  Yet we met and have been together ever since.  Was it luck?  I like to think it was.  But it is not luck that has kept us together.  Rather it has been understanding, shared values, compassion, and work

Luck also appears in our favorite romance novels.  How many times do our beloved characters met because they are in the right place at the right time?  Or maybe in the wrong place at the right time.  Either way our favorite romance characters often find themselves lucky in love when the story ends and they find their happily ever after.  Or at least they always do in my favorite reads and in my series The Sherbrookes of Newport.

  1. I believe love does involve a bit of luck. I actually went to high school with my husband, but we didn't know each other back then. (We had a class of 500 students) We ended up meeting after college because of LUCK and have been together ever since. Luck comes into play in love becuase if someone finds their true love who treats them well, it is LUCKY. Some people aren't so lucky. Is finding true love all about luck? No, I don't think so. Fate also plays a big role. If my husband and I met in high school, it wouldn't have been due to luck, but apparently we weren't supposed to meet until later in life, which is fate. What is meant to be will be. So even though we had 4 years to meet in school, that wasn't the plan. If it had happened that way, we more than likely would've never stayed together and got married. :) Hopefully that makes sense.

  2. I believe it is either luck or fate. My husband and I met at an obscure little church, as part of a small youth group. We lived in a big city, and with hundreds of churches around, it's likely we would not have met at all. He was raised Catholic and I was raised without religion, so the chances of us meeting at a little evangelical church and then being happily married for 32 years, well, ..... you get the picture! I'm feeling very luck in love myself, to have found my husband in such a random fashion.

  4. I believe there is some luck involved in meeting the person but not in keeping it going. I met my husband through a blind date. A mutual friend wanted us to get together...I said no. Then friend called me up to go canoeing. I said ok. He picks me up, with another girl in the car. I'm thinking this is weird. As we are driving he said, by the way, you are going to be Dave's date today. I was ready to kill him. But, we had a lot of fun and 31 years later we are married with 3 teenage daughters!

Thanks for the chance to win.

  5. Luck is required, but romance stories are better if the characters have been unlucky first before they get to be lucky in love! I'm glad I didn't have anything horrible happen to me first though! I am lucky in love! We will be celebrating our 15th anniversary this year! I've downloaded both of your books and finally got organized on goodreads! They are #55 and #56 in my TBR list! Amazing I have over 500 books on my kindle to read - I'm not sure I'll ever get thru them all! theresa.esterline@gmail.com

  48. What a great giveaway hop! I have yet to be lucky in love but I'm working on it. My favorite love book is "Outlander" by Diana Gabaldon. Jamie Fraser is amazing and beautiful. I enjoy St. Patty's Day and this year I'm spending it with my best friend. We're going to two Irish Pubs and also some dance clubs. I am also wearing green and am not a fan of getting pinched. I'm not Irish either, but many people think I am because my hair is red, my eyes green and my name is Meghan, but I'm not at all. I won't be telling anybody that, however… let them believe I'm Irish.
    Thanks for the giveaway!
