Falling For The Billionaire Available For Pre-Order at 99cents

Available for pre-order at a special low price.

Lately billionaire Scott Belmont doesn’t have time for a social life, never mind a bachelor auction. Regardless, when his mom asks him to take part in the fundraising event, he agrees. Scott assumes he’ll take the winner on a few dates and then dismiss her from his mind. Then Paige Foster walks on stage to claim him.

Scott is not at all what she expects. Before she realizes it he’s made his way into her heart. But Paige has a secret, one she fears might send Scott walking.

From the beginning Paige intrigues him and soon Scott finds himself in love. But when an ex-girlfriend reenters his life asking for help, their new relationship is put to the test.

Excerpt

Heat burned her face and Paige suspected her skin matched the side of a fire engine. How could Aunt Bebe do that? Hadn’t she told her aunt she wasn’t interested in winning any men tonight?

“They’re waiting for you up on stage,” Aunt Bebe whispered, leaning close to her.

Paige looked first at her aunt, a woman she loved but at the moment didn’t particularly like, and then up at Scott Belmont and Rose on the stage. So far each winner had joined their bachelor on stage for a kiss and some photos before sitting back down in the audience together.

“I hate being on stage too,” another woman at the table said. “But you don’t have to stay up there long. A kiss, a few quick pictures, and you can bring Mr. Hottie back to the table.”

If going on stage was the only problem, she’d march up there now and get it over with. The fact she had to go up there, kiss a man she’d never even spoken to in front of hundreds of people while being photographed was the biggest but not the only obstacle holding her back.

“The sooner you go, the sooner you can sit back down,” Aunt Bebe said, patting her hand affectionately.

Leaning closer to her aunt, she whispered, “I can’t believe you did this, Aunt Bebe. You knew I didn’t want this.” She didn’t wait for a reply before pushing back her chair and standing. Thanks to Aunt Bebe she had no other choice.

Perspiration trickled down her spine and her legs shook, but somehow she managed to climb the stairs. Left foot, right foot, Paige mentally repeated as she forced herself across the stage toward the podium.

Either Scott was getting impatient or he’d picked up on her apprehension, because he met her halfway, something none of the other bachelors had done. Instead they’d all waited for the women to reach them. Of course, the other winning bidders had made their way on stage in no time.
Smiling at her, he took her hand. “Relax, we’ll be out of the spotlight soon,” he said, his voice low even though it was unlikely anyone in the audience would hear him. With his free hand Scott indicated to the photographer that he should move closer if he wanted pictures, rather than make them walk back toward the podium again.

Once the photographer was in position, Scott turned toward her and she knew what was coming. A kiss. Every bachelor and winner had shared one.

“It’s nice to meet you. We’ll have fun, I promise.” He lowered his mouth to hers, his barely there beard rubbing against her skin.

Her ears burned as the heat from her face spread and her stomach twisted itself into a pretzel. She needed off the stage.

Scott’s lips left hers, and she took in a deep breath but couldn’t seem to unclench her jaw.
“Let’s go somewhere a little less crowded and talk,” Scott said, and she wondered just what kind of expression she wore. Actually, on second thought she probably didn’t want to know.
With the inside of her mouth coated in cotton and her tongue permanently stuck to the roof of her mouth, she could only manage a nod. Still holding her hand, he led her back the way she’d come and out of the spotlight.

“You look like you need some fresh air. How about we go outside to the garden terrace?” he asked when they reached the ballroom floor.

She’d visited the small garden terrace located off the lobby during her friend’s wedding. Throughout the evening guests had spilled out into it so they could enjoy some fresh air and the magnificent view. With some luck all the guests tonight would be too busy with the auction and the view on stage to venture outside, and the area would be empty. “Sounds great,” she managed to get out now that she no longer stood in the spotlight with hundreds of eyes staring at her.

He released her hand and offered her his arm instead as they walked past the occupied tables. Several women called out greetings as they passed, and Scott offered polite replies but didn’t pause to chat. Actually, he seemed as eager as she was to get out of the crowded ballroom and away from the curious eyes.

When they stepped outside, hot, humid air, a stark contrast to the cool climate-controlled ballroom, wrapped around her. For a moment she wondered if going outside into the heat had been a wise idea. Then she caught a glimpse of the view. From the rooftop she could see the entire city, including the bonfires that had been lit along the river below for the evening’s WaterFire.

“I don’t know about you, but I find this much better than being inside.” Scott smiled before he continued, humor evident in his voice. “Since we’ve kissed in front of over two hundred women, I should already know your name, but I don’t.”

She hadn’t picked up on it before, but now, alone without everyone staring at them, she noticed how deep and rich his voice was. “You’re right. It’s Paige.”

Scott extended his hand toward her. “It’s nice to meet you, Paige, I’m Scott.”

Considering the man’s entire bio had been printed in the program, his statement struck her as ridiculous. Right away a giggle worked its way out, and she couldn’t contain a smile.

Getting On My Soap Box For The Day

Getting A Little Serious Today

Every once in a while I tend to get on my soap box so to speak. Today's post is partly because of two things. One all the commercials I saw yesterday and then the yahoo posts about the Victoria's Secret Fashion show this week. The second is an article I read about a month ago about people trying to ban someone from YouTube because she’s too thin and encourages unhealthy eating habits. While I have nothing against Victoria's Secrets, I even shop there sometimes, or magazines I do think shows such as those as well as all the Photoshopping the media does today is the problem not the everyday person.

Okay, before anyone tells me I am crazy, please let me explain what I mean. Thanks to the media everyday both women and men see pictures of what beauty and perfection is supposed to look like. When we check out at the grocery store we see pictures of women and men with perfect bodies. I don't know about other people, but I know how these pictures always make me feel. It doesn't matter that I know they've all been altered. They still make me feel like I should slip on a potato sack and not eat for a few months. Perhaps it's not that way for others, but for someone struggles with body image issues it's hard.

And while not the only reason I struggled with an eating disorder for years, I am sure the media didn't help. Today, most people who know me don't know I've struggled with my weight since I was a kid and still do.

As a child I was extremely over weight.  (See the pictures below)  I am not sure when it started to happen. When I look back pictures of myself I see a rather average sized first grader but then I look at pictures from the fourth grade (around age ten) and I see the extra pounds mounting. In fact in the fourth grade (age 10) I went on my first diet, the Slimfast diet. If you don’t know that one it is when you have shake in the morning and at lunch and then a normal dinner. Lets just say that even before this the kids at school made fun of me all the time because off my weight and being on this diet did not help.

Like you may have guessed this diet did not work and by the time I was in the 6th grade (ages 11-12) I weighed a staggering 160 pounds. That might not sound like a lot to some people, but keep in mind I am short even now I am only 5 feet tall so you can picture how tall I was at age 12. Now you may say I am wrong in doing so, but at least in my case, I blame my weight gain on my family. While my mother was very slim and careful about what she ate she didn’t care what I consumed. If I wanted an ice cream sandwich for breakfast that was what I ate, if I wanted 5 slices of pizza that was fine too.

While in 6th grade I tried my next diet weight watchers.  Unfortunately with no help or guidance from my family this too failed for me.

By the time I hit end of the 7th grade, I weighed 180 pounds, lacked self-confidence, the kids were always teasing me and I was desperate to get rid of the extra weight.  Around this time Nutri-system became very popular.  Although it was expensive my mom agreed to sign me up.  More determined than ever I stuck with this diet and guess what the weight started to come off.

Great, you might be thinking right? Well, yes and no.  I dieted all through 8th grade sticking to the plan and then something happened that summer before I started high school. I don’t know what exactly but I went in the opposite direction as before.  I started eating less and less and exercising more and more. By the time I started 9th grade, I was down to about 90 pounds. People stopped making fun of me. They kept telling me how great I looked.  I didn’t see it though. I kept restricting and that December I was hospitalized for the first time at 60 pounds.

Before the end of that school year I would be hospitalized two more times, before I stabilized at a weight of 100 pounds which I managed to maintain until I got pregnant with my first daughter. Like most pregnant women, I gained weight and had to work hard to get it off. For the most part I'm still about 8 pounds heavier than before my 2nd pregnancy.

To this day I still get obsessed the numbers on the scale and how many calories I put in my body and perhaps I always will. Actually, as I write this I am on a diet hoping to drop a 5 to 10.

So why did I tell you all this?  Well, mainly because I would love to see people accept themselves (something I've never been able to do) and not worry that they don't look like whatever gorgeous model is on the cover of Cosmo or walking the Victoria's Secret runway. I'd also love if the media would stop trying to tell everyone what we should look like. Will that ever happen? I doubt it, but that doesn't mean we have to buy into either.

Thanks for stopping by and reading. If you have any thoughts or comments please leave me.

The Teacher's Billionaire Got A Facelift

In March of 2012, my first book The Teacher's Billionaire released. It is the first book in my Sherbrookes of Newport series. The series now contains 7 other full length novels and one novel. The 9th book in the series will release next month. This week I decided it was time book 1 received a facelift and I had a new cover made.  Here it it.

If you have not read the book, it is Free for all e-readers.

What starts out as a plan to keep a family secret out of the media soon turns into so much more for billionaire Dylan Talbot as he falls in love with elementary school teacher Callie Taylor.   But when Callie learns the truth about her relationship with the confirmed bachelor only complete honesty can save their love.

We All Have A Story

I have been a writer for as long as I can remember and always dreamed of being a published author. Five years ago this month, I attended a RIRW monthly meeting and heard about self-publishing for the first time. I decided I'd give it a try. It took me a few months to finish the book I was working. At the time my daughters were young, the twins were 2 1/2 and my oldest was 4 1/2. I got up earlier before them to write and wrote after they went to bed.

In March of 2012 I released my first book The Teacher's Billionaire and my world changed. Today I have 11 full length novels and 1 novella available. In December I hope to release my 12 full length novel Falling For The Billionaire. I have met so many wonderful people including readers from around the world, other authors, cover models, photographers and so many more. Needless to say indie-publishing has changed my life in many ways and I am thankful every day.

New Release From M. S. Kaye

For Adriane Graham, the real question comes down to this: “Am I Alec Kaden’s guest…Or his prisoner?”
If she’s a guest in the Kaden mansion, then it means Alec has freed himself from his family ties to organized crime. It means he’s telling the truth when he says he’s protecting Adriane from dangerous men and they can shake off the shackles of haunted pasts.
…But…
If Adriane Graham is Alec Kaden’s prisoner, it means his tenderness is simply a ruse to keep her under control; his kindness is just poisoned hypocrisy. It means Alec is a cruel liar, and that somehow, by some desperate way, she’s got to get out of this charming man’s well-guarded house before it’s too late.
Is she Alec’s treasured guest? Or merely a pretty bird, trapped in his gilded cage? The troubling questions pour like fountains…flowing…

Excerpt

I looked around to see a black sedan creeping up behind me. I moved to get out of the way, barely on the gravel. I kept walking and vaguely appreciated that the driver didn’t speed by in impatience and kick up dirt and rocks. The car continued at the same careful pace

Just as the passenger door was at my arm’s length, the car stopped. I guessed the driver must be seeking directions, and waited for a window to roll down. They had to be lost. I’d never seen an unfamiliar car on this road. It was only used or even known about by old residents of the neighborhood.

The back door opened, and a man stepped out.

I caught a glimpse of his tailored suit and overly straight posture as I glanced around, deciding if I should keep walking, walk quickly...or bolt into the trees toward one of the houses.
“It’s getting late,” he said. “Would you care for a ride home before it gets too dark?”

His voice—it sounded vaguely familiar. As I looked at him properly, part of my mind was distracted. His skin was like white marble, sculpting a beautiful face, but hard, unchanging, unyielding. Except his eyes. They were puddles in the stone, the only gentle thing about him.
I stepped back.

He lurched forward and grabbed my arm just above my elbow.
